Joel Gott’s team makes good wine for the price based on a capacity to select good fruit (grapes) from various sources in California. Hence, this is a “California” Chardonnay. There’s no terroir here.
I paid $15.39 for this wine in Panama. For that price it’s a very good value. And although there’s no oak, the wine offers plenty of flavor, layers of it even. Those flavors lean heavily toward the US palate; there’s very little minerality and plenty of ripeness: fruit forward. The acidity is reserved. It’s everything I would expect from a California Chardonnay.
